WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW WHEN CHOOSING AN ARCHITECT?
Successful projects rely on mutual understanding and trust. You need to like your architect, and your architect needs to connect with your aspirations and design sensibilities. A home is a long-term investment, and the design process is inherently iterative. It’s vital that your architect listens carefully, interprets your requirements accurately, and communicates clearly throughout.
Choose an architect who is transparent about the process and willing to explain each stage in detail, so you know what to expect and when.
We structure our work around the RIBA Work Stages, which guide the design and construction process in the UK:
Stages 1–2: Briefing and Concept Design
Main output: Stage 2 Project Brief Report, summarising the agreed concept design, budget, environmental targets, design team roles, and consultations.Stage 3: Spatial Coordination and Detailed Design
Main output: Planning and Listed Building applications.Stage 4: Technical Design
Main output: Construction Information for tender and Building Regulations submission.Stage 5: Construction
On-site delivery, guided by the design team.Stages 6–7: Handover, Use, and Project Evaluation
Ensuring the building functions as intended and reviewing outcomes for future learning.
We are happy to work across the UK and internationally. A local architect does not automatically guarantee a better result; what matters most is finding an architect with the vision, skill, and ambition to realise your dream.
