COPPICE HOUSE MILL

Wiltshire, UK

This project seeks to bring back to life a dilapidated former mill warehouse over 5 floors. The existing structure is cavernous since all existing floors have fallen in giving an almost cathedral like atmosphere internally. The project is for a substantial new home, retaining the sense of height internally as well as the warehouse feeling - aiming for the new insertions to read as something ‘dropped’ into the enclosure of the existing walls. A steel stair is proposed to be suspended centrally within the main living spaces, leading through the ceiling into the more private parts of the house which are centred around a rooftop terrace with far reaching views across the Wiltshire landscape.
